Es Vedrà Viewpoints — Overview
Es Vedrà sits about 2 kilometres off the southwest coast of Ibiza inside a protected natural park. You cannot land on the island itself, but you can view it from five distinct vantage points — each giving a completely different perspective.
Viewpoint 1: Cala d'Hort Beach ★★★★★
The definitive Es Vedrà viewpoint. A small sheltered pebble beach on the southwestern tip of Ibiza, facing Es Vedrà directly. Two beach restaurants and a bar. Sun lounger hire available. Swimming is good — calm waters with high visibility.
How to get there: Follow PM-803 south from Sant Josep, then the signposted turn-off to Cala d'Hort. GPS: 38.8940° N, 1.2234° E. Arrive by 17:00 in high season for parking.
Viewpoint 2: Torre des Savinar ★★★★★
A 16th-century watchtower about 100 metres above sea level, south of Cala d'Hort. Walk takes 15–20 minutes on an unmarked rocky path. The view from the top is the best static land viewpoint on the island: Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell, and the open sea all visible simultaneously.
Tips: Wear sturdy shoes. Bring water. No shade. Best months: May, June, September, October.
Viewpoint 3: North Cala d'Hort Path ★★★★☆
A less-known walking path follows the coast north of Cala d'Hort beach. After about 10 minutes you reach flat rocks directly above the water with unobstructed views of Es Vedrà. Almost no one else will be here at sunset — the spot locals go when Cala d'Hort gets crowded.
Viewpoint 4: Cala Carbo Cliffs ★★★☆☆
A small cove about 3 km north of Cala d'Hort. A short walk south along the clifftop gives you a side-on view of the northern face of Es Vedrà — which most tourists never see. Best for photography in the morning when the light hits this face directly.
Viewpoint 5: Sunset Boat Tour ★★★★★
No land viewpoint gives you what a boat tour does: the ability to circle Es Vedrà completely, see all its faces, and watch the sunset from the sea. When the boat is positioned east of the rock, the setting sun frames it perfectly.
Tours depart from Ibiza Town or San Antonio, run 3–4 hours, include swimming stops. From €79 per person. Book via GetYourGuide for verified operators and free cancellation.
